I have advanced training in Emotions-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman therapy. Both of these models are evidence-based treatments that help improve communication, repair injuries, and rebuild and strengthen emotional bonds and connections.
Interactions with each other stop bringing joy, and communication is strained, escalated, or non-existent. Partners either constantly fight over seemingly little things or become distant and avoid discussing what matters. As a result, the relationship becomes tense and unfulfilling, emotional distance grows, and both partners feel disconnected, stressed, lonely, angry, and resentful.
Time is not on your side. With time, the negative cycle of disconnection and conflict only strengthens. It can lead to a higher level of escalation where the fights get more potent, louder, and nasty, or it can come to total estrangement where partners become emotional strangers and live under the same roof as two roommates. Relational discord leads to high stress levels, emotional discomfort, and even physical illness.
