- Is your marriage on the brink?
- Are you or your spouse considering divorce or separation, but one of you or both are not entirely sure that’s the best path?
- Did your partner threaten divorce and you are terrified that your marriage is coming to an end?
- Do you vacillate between working on the marriage and throwing in the towel?
- Have you been living with so much unhappiness that the idea of marriage counseling feels unbearable?
- Are you tired of convincing your partner that your marriage is still worth fighting for?
Discernment counseling can help you find a clear path forward.
Through this empirically studied brief approach (1-7 sessions) we will explore three separate paths — keeping things as they are, pursuing separation, or committing to couples therapy. Both partners will gain a better understanding of their individual contributions to the current state of the marriage and more clarity about how they got where they currently are and where they want to go.
Discernment Counseling is short term.
With Discernment Counseling, you are only committing to ONE 2-hour session.
After that session, you can either do another discernment counseling session (90 minutes) or choose a path to move forward with.
Discernment Counseling is time-limited: by the 7th session, you will have to choose how you want to proceed.
I offer discernment counseling online in New York or Florida or in-person in my Manhattan office.
